OpenID user authentication
planned... would allow those sites who use OpenID to directly correlate their users with their suggestions, and other neato stuff.
We're planning to implement OpenID using clickpass.com some day soon.

Member site based authentication
plannedAllow a member site with its own authentication system pass an authentication token when linking to UserVoice, so that registered users of a web application like SlimTimer won't have to register again for UserVoice.
We are currently planning on using SAML (what Google Docs uses) for a Single Sign On solution.

make it possible to "star" suggestions
plannedI would like to be able to "star" certain suggestions that I want to remember (if I have no more votes but want to keep tabs on interesting suggestions).

allow negative votes?
sometimes, especially in cases where there's a lot of traffic on a suggestion, allowing someone to vote *against* something might be worthwhile.
Obviously negative votes should still count against the user's vote total (except as a positive subtraction, if you know what I mean... ;)), and to avoid slashdot-style battles, perhaps setting the maximum negative vote to -1 would be a good idea.

Allow private reskin (paid) usage integrated into other site
Allow for the creation of suggestions from within another site (mashup?). Give method to pass userid from this "parent" site to identify the suggestor. Allow simple restyle of UserSuggest to match "parent" site.

Offer a (paid?) API
This would be very easy to offer if the system is already RESTful - and I suspect, given your affiliation with Rails & ActiveScaffold, that may be a given.
Would be a simple matter of supplying a "How-to" page to explain which resources are available and how each resource relates to the others
restful indeed, though we haven't added json/xml responses yet. if this idea gains some more traction we'll have to prioritize that!

Allow admins to set number of votes
To allow for broader suggestions or longer voting times, an admin could grant users more votes. Similarly, to focus on just a few suggestions or to make quick decisions, the admin could reduce the number of votes.

Don't force people to come to the page to submit a vote. They're on my site, I'd like to keep them there.

Add A "Compliment" Section - Say What's Right About Product
What if a user likes something, such as - "Hey, I love your new logo!" Can there be a place for that? Perhaps on the right sidebar? Also - it should not cost 'Votes' to do so.
It's always a good idea to say what is working too :-)

It will be nice to organize the suggestions either using something lightweight like tags or something like categories created by an admin.

Once the idea moves to "planned", I should get my votes back. The suggestion was good enough to get planned, so free up my votes for another good suggestion, don't make me wait on whatever the implementation schedule turns out to be...

differentiate between bugs and features
Right now, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to filter what I'm looking at in terms of differentiating between bugs and features. Such a differentiation is important if you are running a real, production web site.
Hmm, on the one hand we want users to prioritize bugs vs features in the same list, but on the other hand many admins will want to take care of bugs before they get to be too big an issue.

Confusing with limit on votes
So what do you do when you hit your limit? It shows a warning but doesn't tell you what you can do about it. That is frustrating. I like the limit, but then I hate it too. What if someone wants to be really active and give a lot of feedback? I want that too.

Make it easier for newer suggestions to rise in popularity
Right now the order in which suggestions are displayed is based solely on how many votes they have ACCUMULATED. While I can see why this would be the ideal view for ADMINS to see, I'm concerned that if that's the way USERS see it too, it will inevitably result in "POPULARITY AMPLIFICATION", where those suggestions that are ALREADY popular end up receiving the bulk of users' votes while those suggestions at the bottom of the list end up being overlooked. Here are some possible solutions...

Customizable blog widget
I'd love to change the look and the wording of the blog widget to integrate it in a better way! What about non-English-speaking users? At least the Headline »Top User Suggestions« and the link »Cast your votes« should be customizable.

Use contact form instead of displaying email address.
I dislike simply displaying an email at the bottom of a page to contact for various reasons. Having a standard contact form would help me keep everything organized, and prevent not providing any useful information in a standard email.

allow admins & original poster to edit the description
Currently, THIS TEXT RIGHT HERE cannot be edited by anyone.
This is a decided misfeature if, e.g., I post in a very long and ugly URL, or if e.g. a user inserts this text but I-the-admin want to edit it (along with the title) to be a more accurate description of the result of community consensus.

Allow admins to merge suggestions
plannedSometimes, two or more suggestions that share the same basic idea gain traction and compete with each other although they should be promoting the same cause. If the page admins have the ability to merge such entries, the page will be much tidier and votes and comments will not be lost when the duplicate is deleted.

allow colour change on rollover of "feedback" button
The "feedback" button that I introduced into my site is nicely adapted to the colour scheme of the site, except when you mouse over it. That blue doesn't turn up anywhere else. Could you introduce another variable to the script that allows to adapt that colour, too?

Fix idea status menu
startedThe menu, if activated on a suggestion near the bottom of the page, is cut off by the browser port/status bar.

As you can see, the 'deleted' menu links are not accessible as the menu disappears below the bottom of the browser view port.
This is on Firefox 3 on Mac OSX.

Reward activity with more votes.
Users could accumulate, possibly controllable by an admin preference, more votes based on how often they comment on suggestions or submit new suggestions. This way active users could be rewarded for their efforts.

facebook/ Google IG integration
Most of the links people get nowadays are from social bookmarking sites like delicious or Digg or Google IG rss feeds and some such, or posted stories from facebook. having handy widgets not only makes it convenient, on a social website, the message can be shared and spread fast.

Show completed statistics on each page
We would like to show to our users that we are actually executing on suggestions. It would be nice to have a clear statistics on the top right of each suggestion page: Number of (a) suggestions, (b) completed, and (c) planned.

Could you add a simple help section please?
plannedI've just discovered this wonderful site via the N-Gage Feedback Forum, but it took a while to work out how the voting system worked, and I still don't fully understand how votes would ever be returned to me.
I then tried to look for a link saying "help" or "tutorial" somewhere on the page but couldn't see anything.
Could you add at least a simple text page explaining votes? It would be nice if it emphasised how limited the number of votes is, I assumed they would be refreshed every day or every week but apparently not. Some enthusiastic customers may be a bit shocked when they run out of votes and can't make any more suggestions.
We are planning to have a help section in our homepage update, which we will also link to from the footer.

View your Friend status with other players
In the Buddy List tab, the addition of a column showing players who have marked you as a Friend or Alliance member - with the KOCPartybot arrangement, players can ask others to list them as Friend or Alliance member for clicking purposes and having this list of players who have reciprocated would be a big help. For now we can only take another player's word for it that they have changed your status in return.

make the original suggestion community editable
Lots of user comments are good, but the original form is rarely the final form.
It would be great to see the original suggestion followed by a combined/edited suggestion which is based on comments made in the replies.
Perhaps this is managed by the original poster (email alert: "user 1 will vote for you if you add suggested change a" with a followup to users 2-4 that "user 0 changed their original suggestion to include change a, do you/would you still support this change?")
Perhaps it is managed by a moderator (users 1 and 2 add a flagged [obvious] suggested change and this is added in by a mod to the original suggestion, all users are then alerted to the change and can change their vote accordingly. -

Improve mark-as-duplicate feature
Currently when you mark something as a duplicate, it just silently goes off and counts your "dup" vote for you internally but (1) gives no notification to other users that it is potentially a duplicate, (2) gives the one who marks it as a duplicate no indication of how many other "dup" votes it needs for it to finally be removed, and (3) doesn't let you specify what it's a duplicate of.

Support per-user vote limits
plannedI would like to reward users with more votes:
- those that are members for sometime
- those that fill in some demographic information (possibly only visible to admins)
- those who invite other users (and the users vote on our site)This is feature we are considering for a paid version of UserVoice.

Are you sure? It seems odd that a valid URL would fail validation (whatever validation is worth/means any more)

Please add Unicode support. I've just tried adding some special polish letters in the Welcome message end ended with questionmarks instead of them.

I have had feedback that users haven't seen or read the welcome message as their eye goes straight to 'I suggest you...', I would like the otpion for it to be in a larger font and possibly in my corporate colours I I choose.
