Reward activity with more votes.

Users could accumulate, possibly controllable by an admin preference, more votes based on how often they comment on suggestions or submit new suggestions. This way active users could be rewarded for their efforts.

    rbraxton's idea is better.

you don't want to reward submitting ideas in general, or you see lots of bogus submissions trying to game the system.

More votes for suggestions that are accepted would be better. The problem is once a suggestion is planned/accepted, most supporters will retract their votes so they can use them on some other suggestion. Why not refund/return votes as soon as it is planned? Or leave it to the admins discretion as to what status will give more/back/return/refund votes to supporters.

If an admin thinks a member is making consistently useful suggestions, and wants to hear more suggestions from that member, then they should be able to allocate that member additional votes. Otherwise it's just needlessly excluding an enthusiastic participant.

Love it. I was just about to make the exact same suggestion. I am not a huge fan of the limit on votes, but with this function it would make sense. Those who need more votes would be one and the same with those who would be willing to comment ie. avid social networkers.

As to the "domination" comment. Should still maintain the maximum number of votes per idea.

Might make sense...might also allow a vocal minority to dominate the voting. I'd rather see a system where the admin has more discretion in granting votes, so the admin can give back votes for items that are confirmed bugs, or to a user that offers up a patch, etc.

Is that to mean like a Karma system? If the user is engaged & responsive then they get a reward? That's an interesting thought.
