  1. Love it. I was just about to make the exact same suggestion. I am not a huge fan of the limit on votes, but with this function it would make sense. Those who need more votes would be one and the same with those who would be willing to comment ie. avid social networkers.

    As to the "domination" comment. Should still maintain the maximum number of votes per idea.

  3. My question here is, what does having multiple similar ideas do to management's ability to make use of the data? Should the votes be added together? What if some people voted for both? If we don't combine the votes in some manner, then aren't we decreasing the influence that the idea should have?

  5. I think an important part of the mash-up is being able to consume a stream of information and display it as appropriate possibly even mixing in other data points. Thus the coloring and logoing is just the tip of the iceberg. Would be great to be able to make API calls and receive back XML.

  7. What is the purpose of limiting the votes? We aren't limited in what we can "Digg". The problem with this approach is that you are cutting off the "long tail". The "Long Tail" of people who spend inordinate amounts of time in certain spaces is what powers some many communities. Many others are just lurkers.

  10. What about SAML or some other SSO that does not require an OpenID? If this is going to be sold to corporations for use internally, it is going to need to be a seamless integration based on their authentication LDAP, AD, etc... Big market company to employee rather than just thinking company to consumer.

  11. YES!! Social Tagging is key. The long tail of those who enjoy this type of thing will greatly enhance an implementation for the light lurkers if you let them. I am less hot on pre-set categories, but I think there is a place for those as well so that the admin can establish some buckets. Create a tag cloud for navigation!!!
